008. What You Believe Matters in Marketing (and Life!)
Almost every day in the marketing and entrepreneurial world, I notice some guru telling people how they need to work really hard to get what they want in life.
That in order to succeed, the professional or Expert must:
- ✅“Go to battle” with themselves (or what? Nothing will happen if you don’t poke and prod yourself forward?)
- ✅Show up and take “dramatic” action (as if every step forward must be so big and so courageous, as opposed to being easy and in flow)
- ✅Do what they need to do even if they don’t want to do it (“white knuckling” your way toward achieving your goals is a choice, I suppose)
If you really like doing things the hard way, or like requiring fear of loss in order to have motivation, or feel like things must be “difficult” in order to be effective…
Woe be it to me to convince you otherwise.
But maybe you’re like me, and believe that life is supposed to be easy.
The only reason it’s NOT easy is because you:
- ➡️ Have a belief or decision related to the lack of ease around life (or marketing, or business, or whatever)... or that you’re I’ve is always “like that” or difficult… or that things always go wrong.
- ➡️ You delete or distort what doesn’t match (e.g., the good stuff) from your notice, and instead focus on and generalize the bad (which supports your belief).
- ➡️ You’re working from a state of stress and anxiety (which you, perhaps, identify with and think is necessary for your success)… and call this effective.
- ➡️ You are holding an image in your mind of what you DON’T want (for me, it used to be homeless… something I achieved at one point b/c I couldn’t get over panic attacks related to my pricing, lol)…. and holding THAT image and running from THAT outcome instead of what you do want.
- ➡️ Something else that’s a combination of those things.
Friend… Expert… Entrepreneur…
It doesn’t have to be this way.
At Intuitive Marketer, I teach anxious entrepreneurs and professionals how to step out of this pattern entirely.
Once they do, they can finally take the marketing and business operation actions they‘re currently putting off.
